Tips & Tricks Tuesday - Imperfect Dragonfly Cut-outs

I have a quick card and a fun little tip for you today My Friends...

When you die-cut an image and something happens and it is "imperfect" ...use it anyhow!!

:)

I cut the string of little dragonflies from several pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock but my pieces were a bit too small and the edges of some of the wings got cut off.  So I put these dragonflies next to the sides or bottom edges of the card and lined them up and trimmed them down so they just blended into the card frame.

And where the piece of vanilla cardstock I used was just too, too small, I simply cut out just one or 2 dragonflies, then trimmed away the attached pieces of dragonflies with my Paper snips to get exactly what I needed or wanted.

You see -- the string of dragonflies that is generated by this die-cut is "supposed" to have 5 of these cute little guys all connected to each other.
The string of dragonflies on the right is what the "proper" complete die-cut looks like.

But go ahead and cut them apart to use one, two, three or even four of them, and if the wings aren't all there....line them along the edge of your card and pretend like they are supposed to look that way!!

You may remember that I did the same thing with the black dragonflies that went diagonally across the card I posted yesterday.    The first and last dragonflies have their wings "cut off" at the edges of the card.    That's because the piece I used to cut them out was too small to fit everything so the wings got cut off.  And I found a way to use the die-cut anyhow!

Using "imperfect" die-cuts along the edge of your card is a GREAT way to use up either accidents (die cuts that slip when you are running them through the Big Shot)...or small bits of cardstock that are too small for complete images.  I HATE wasting cardstock and throwing bits out.  So this is a great tip to use up lots of little scraps.  And you can cut them out while watching tv or just having "Family time".

If you live anywhere in Canada, you can order Stampin' Up! materials through me so you can create your own fun cards.  Order online HERE (at check out, please use the hostess code VP7YFXQ9) or contact me to place your order for you.

And if you want a LOT of stuff?  Well then, save yourself a TON of money - up to $200 - by making your purchase into a fully customizeable Starter Kit purchase.  See the details HERE or contact me so we can save you lots of money while getting you everything you want.

Hope this fun little tip helps you use up your scraps (and stops you from discarding any more of what you thought were "die-cutting mistakes" !   Enjoy the rest of your day and God Bless,      Cynthia   <><

Masculine Monday Dragonfly Hexagons

I'll need your help on this one My Friends...

I don't do a lot of masculine cards.  You'll have to let me know if I got this one right.

It's a simple card.  I used the superb new deeply indented Hexagon embossing folder on both the Stitched Circle die-cut (love that little line of stitching around the edge, don't you?) and also the Crumb Cake card layer beneath it.

Did you notice?  I inverted the two pieces so that the die-cut has the hexagons as the raised shape, and the card front has the debossed hexagons.  I lightly sponged both pieces with Espresso ink to bring out the details of the raised edges.

Love the way this turned out.

Add a large dragonfly cut using the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits (available in our Occasions catalogue) and also the line of smaller dragonflies across the bottom corner.  I like the visual interest of using these guys as an incomplete die-cut that gets "lost" in the edges of the card.
Subtle copper metallic thread and sponged hexagons to add detaiing.

A bit of copper metallic thread sticking out from under the circle, and the card is complete.  A little something that glistens like a hint of bling.

No sentiment, so I can customize it when it is needed for whatever occasion I need.

So?  Tell me....Did I do it?  Did I successfully make a masculine card?  (even though I added the copper thread?)

Everything YOU need to make this card is listed below.  If you live anywhere in Canada, you can place your order online HERE (at check out, please use the hostess code VP7YFXQ9) or contact me to place your order for you.

Sale-A-Bration Sunday - Inside The Lines Watercolour

Welcome back My Friends!

Would you take a look at this quick, easy, GORGEOUS card.  The starring role for all this beauty goes to a Sale-A-Bration freebie!

I sort of cheated.  Except for the sentiment (from the stamp set Picture Perfect) I didn't stamp anything.  My only job was to colour the beautiful pattern of the Inside the Lines DSP.  You can get it as a FREE item during Sale-A-Bration. Our watercolor pencils make it so easy!

The blooms and leaves were coloured with the Watercolor Pencils (available in our Occasions catalogue), then I used an aquapainter to smudge all of the coloured lines and bleed them together.

And the pièces de résistance....a dragonfly cut using the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits.

All of the SAB products that you could earn FREE (one for every $60-worth of product you purchase) are gorgeous.  See them all by clicking HEREAnd any items needed to reproduce this card are listed below.  Get what you need to make this or any other card by placing your order online HERE (at check out, please use the hostess code VP7YFXQ9) or contact me to place your order for you.

Fast and Fabulous Friday - Special Reason & Stylish Stems

Hello Again My Friends

Time for a Fast & Fabulous Friday installment.

This is an easy peasy card you can make in less than 5 minutes.  Let me show you how.

Use the Stylish Stems framelit die to cut the large flower 'stencil' out of a Whisper White card front.

Stamp the leaves from the Special Reason stamp set onto the front of the card using Pear Pizzazz ink, and stamp a sentiment (I used a Thank You from the Wetlands stamp set) at the bottom edge of the card.

Sponge Peekabo Peach and Flirty Flamingo Ink randomly over a piece of Whisper White cardstock then adhere this sponged piece behind the "window" that was made using the Stylish Stems framelit.
Sponge Peach and Flamingo ink onto a piece of cardstock

Adhere sponged piece behind the frame left behind by the Stylish Stems framelit

Peekabo Peach and Flirty Flamingo ruched ribbon were knotted and combined to add just the right embellishment to the card, don't you think?

Mount this all on a Pear Pizzazz Card base and there you go.  Easy Peasy.  Fast and Fabulous.

You can get everything you need to make this beautiful card --> Place your orders online by visiting HERE (at check out, please use the hostess code VP7YFXQ9) or contact me to place your order for you.
