GV Blog Hop - Bring on the Bling

Hello My Friends

It is so close to Christmas and life here in my house has gotten incredibly busy.  But I still wanted a chance to participate in the Grand Vacation Achievers Blog Hop this month.

I'll keep this short as, with Christmas on Friday, I still have a million and one things to do in the next day or 2.  But for now, join me and some of my very talented friends as we show you FABULOUS projects that have BLING flashing and glittering from every angle!!

You may just be starting the blog hop here (I'm Cynthia Millan) - or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup is listed at the bottom.

On to my card - I wanted my project to sparkle and shine like there's no tomorrow so I used silver embossing powder, silver metallic foil doilies and Basic Rhinestone Jewels to light up my card.

The stamp set is a sneak peek for you.  I used First Sight, a new one set from the upcoming Spring Occasions catalogue.  Love the flourish that I embossed on the front and that I used to add silver embossed detailing to the outer edges of the Smoky Slate card.

And did anyone else notice how perfectly the fancy corners that you create with the Curvy Corner Trio punch (it is held over in the Spring catalogue!!) match the detailing on the metallic foil doilies that we sell?  How cute is that?

The challenge when you use this much bling, of course, is in getting a picture that does the card justice.  This was my first attempt - before I played with the lighting and the angles just a bit.

Not quite as stunning, is it?!?

I hope you've enjoyed my card.  And don't forget to visit everyone else on the list below.  Hopping is fun and you will be amazed at the sheer gorgeousness of some of these projects!

Have a wonderful, joyful and joy-filled Christmas my friends, and God Bless,    ~Cynthia   <><

Poor Old Frosty the Snowman

Hello Friends.

I have seen a TON of cute snowman cards this winter but by far the cutest one I think is the melting snowman.

As far as my neighbourhood goes, so far this year there are no snowmen in sight!
Not yet at any rate.
Because let's face it - Despite the fact that I live in CANADA, we just haven't had snowman weather!  The first 2 weeks of December have been unusually warm here (~10 C / 50 F).
Melted puddle below Frosty.....

So here is my version of how December feels right about now.   I used the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and Tree Builder Punch to create my melted Frosty.  And a sponge dauber with versamark and clear embossing powder did the trick to make the puddle.

I will try to get a quick video up and running in a day or 2 to show you how quickly and easily this card goes together.  For now though, enjoy the card and have a wonderful week ahead!

God Bless,   ~Cynthia    <><

GV Blog Hop - Seeing 3D

Hello My Friends and Welcome to the SU! Grand Vacation - Mediterranean Achievers Blog Hop

Which is a big long name that means -->  Woot, woot!   Thanks to SU! my hubby and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise next May!  So me and a bunch of my very talented friends who all earned the cruise together are participating in a blog hop to show you some gorgeous 3D projects.  I hope you like what I have to show you today.  And I *know* you will love the projects all of my friends have on display.  Don't forget to visit everyone.  And feel free to leave a comment.  Spread the joy my friends!

So what do I have to share with you today?  I decided to show you just how easy it is to create cute little paper earrings using Stampin' Up! supplies.  These earrings are lightweight, fast to create, easy to make, inexpensive and just plain old CUTE!!  Anyone would be thrilled to receive a gift like this from you.  And you could use ANY symmetrical image/punch or framelits to create similar earrings.  Just like I did several years ago in THIS POST

The super-cool thing about these kinds of earrings is that they are so fun and so FAST to make!!  Just to prove it to you, I created this video.  Honestly my friends, this cute little project will take you mere minutes!

And who wouldn't want to walk around wearing snowflake earrings?  Right?!?

I need to go now to make earrings from our Christmas Tree punch.  And the little snowman from Snow Place.  And maybe a brightly coloured circle (or 2) as ornaments.  You can never have too many Christmas earrings, can you?

Hope you enjoyed your 3D waltz through my blog.  And don't forget to visit everyone else on the list below.  Hopping is fun and you will be amazed at the sheer gorgeousness of some of these projects!

Have a terrific rest-of-the-week and God Bless,    ~Cynthia   <><

Some of My Favourite Goodies are Going Away....

Hello My Friends
I am so sad.  The Woodland Embossing folder is retiring soon.  In fact, as a "while supplies last" item, it could be any day now.

And Wonderland.  That beautiful, glorious stamp set.  It is retiring.

And the Sleigh Ride edgelit dies.

I almost can't bear to think of it!

The full list of items that are retiring is listed HERE.  Honestly my friends you really don't want to miss out on some of these fantastic items!!  If you need anything, contact me as soon as possible.  All items that are not stamps are only available while supplies last.  Don't wait too long and risk missing out!

Hope everyone started their week with a smile and I hope you are all looking forward to much more of the same!
God Bless,    ~Cynthia    <><

Northern Lights WOW Card and Video

Hello My Friends

Many of you may have seen the Northern Lights technique before - and you might even have re-created it yourself.  But man oh man, look at the way you can take a beautiful Northern Lights card to new levels of gorgeousness!
Yellow/Green/Blue Northern Lights

Blue/Pink Northern Lights

I sponged ink onto the sky to create the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) effect.  Since the Northern Lights can appear in virtually any colour, there are no rules about what colours to use.  However, I have most commonly seen the Green/Yellow/Blue variety and the Pink/Blue variety are also often seen here in Canada so...that's what I went with here.  (Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Cucumber Crush for the Green/Yellow sky; Pink Pirouette and Soft Sky for the Pastel sky).

I stamped the Wonderland Pine tree image below using the Archival Black ink, and  sponged Night of Navy ink to make sure everyone knows it is night-time.  A few gel pen stars and voila - a beautiful Northern Lights card.

But WAIT!
Shimmery Northern Lights with Lovely As a Tree

Stopping now means you have a beautiful card.  But why not make it absolutely STUNNING?!!

It's as easy as covering the card with versamark and Iridescent Ice embossing powder, then heat-setting the iridescent Ice.

No.  Really.  It really *IS* that simple.

Watch the video below and I will show you exactly how.

Northern Lights cards are always gorgeous.  But the glimmer from Iridescent Ice makes them drop-dead-spectacular wow!

Go ahead.  Try it for yourself.

Have a spectacular day my friends.  Enjoy my video.  And God Bless,   ~Cynthia     <><

Adding Shimmer to a Card - the first video

My apologies my friends

I tried making a video tonight using my iphone - since the photos that it captures are FANTASTIC quality.  Well - either I don't know what I am doing, or my regular camera is a better quality than I thought, because the video made with my iphone is NOT good quality whatsoever.  However, I will post it anyhow, until I have a chance to make a new and better quality one to replace it!
Shimmery Stamped/Embossed Card
Can you see the shimmer?

In a nutshell, last year I used Iridescent Ice embossing powder to create a spectacular Christmas card that shimmered and glimmered like there was no tomorrow.  You can see that card and video HERE.  Well today I want to show you that you can use the same technique to 'step up' almost any card.  Here, I've used the technique to glimmer up the gorgeous card I created by stamping directly on the embossing folder.

I promise when I get home form work tonight I will try to make a better version of this video.  But for now...you'll get the idea.

Here you go friends:

Have a wonderful day and God Bless,    ~Cynthia   <><

GV Achievers Blog Hop - Remember to Give Thanks (Stamped Embossing Folders and a video)

Hello Friends

This month we are focusing on giving thanks.  If you are like me, you know you have a multitude of people and things to be thankful for, and one posting on a blog just isn't enough.  But we do what we can and we try to say Thank you on a regular basis, right?

For instance - this month I am thankful to the Australians - Kylie Bertucci and Louise Sharp - for managing this blog hop so well (and providing easy instructions for all of us to participate), and to Ann Craig for posting a card on FB yesterday that inspired me to design this easy but "WOW-factor card!
Close up of Pine images "behind" the Birch trees

Closeup of watercolor effect observed using this technique.

As soon as I saw Ann's card, my brain started working overtime to figure out how she did it, and how I could achieve something similar.  I came home from work and designed this and my club members for the past 2 days have been thrilled beyond belief at how cute it is, and how easy it is to reproduce.

The close-up shots show you what an amazing watercolour effect this technique provides.  Soft, smudgy edges and muted colours.

So thank you Ann.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The video shows you just how easy it is to create this card.
You merely ink up the inside of an embossing folder with one colour (here, Soft Sky), then stamp directly onto this inked surface using a darker colour and an appropriate stamp (Here, Wonderland).  Insert your cardstock and run the proper sandwich through the Big Shot.  What you end up with looks decidedly like a watercolour painting and is absolutely gorgeous!    Watch the video to see for yourself how quick and easy it is!

I have more club and class members to teach this to this week and I cannot wait.  Everyone who has made this card so far has been thrilled with their creations.  Thanks so much Ann for inspiring such a cool card - that I can use to bless my friends and customers!

I know all the other blog hop participants have posted equally fabulous card ideas.  The list and links for participants is listed at the bottom of this post.  You really will want to wander through all of them to see what kinds of gorgeous creations they have made.  And do leave comments for them so they know they were appreciated!

Have a wonderful time hopping through the blogs.  Find some inspiration.  Spread some joy.  And remember to always give thanks!!

God Bless,    ~Cynthia   <><

GV Blog Hop - Holiday Sneak Peek

Hello My Friends

This month our Grand Vacation blog hop will highlight some wonderful items from the new Holiday Catalogue that goes live on Sept 1.  So you get to enjoy a Sneak Peek of some fantastic treasures!

For me?  I LOVE cutting out and using the Santa images from the new "Home For Christmas" Designer Paper but my heart was breaking at the idea of leaving behind so many cute "partial" Santa Clauses around the edges of the paper.

Then the light bulb went off.  Or rather, should I say, the light bulb went "on".

Take a look at this cutie-pie.

I used one of the images from Cozy Christmas to stamp flying reindeer in the sky and used versamark and Iridescent Ice embossing powder to create the sparkle of gently falling snow (snow stamp from the Happy Scenes stamp set).
Subtle sparkle of snow falling outside

See from a different angle how totally cute and totally effective, yet subtle the falling snow is?

Torn and roughed-up white cardstock became a glittery snowbank, thanks to a 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds.

'He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake.  He knows when you've been bad or good....'   Can't you just picture Santa peeking in the window, keeping his eye on you!

The sentiment is from the new set 'Oh, What Fun'.  Considering that this is a sneak peek of new products, don't you think that "No Peeking" is a great sentiment for this card?
Didn't look fast enough - and you almost missed seeing him!

Pretty neat, huh?  Even the partial Santas without any of the face showing lend themselves to really cool cards.  Almost as if you looked out the window a fraction of a second too late and almost "missed" seeing the jolly old guy completely!

All in all, I am very pleased with how these cards came out.  Every one is different.  Every one has character.  There are fuller images of Santa.  And there are images that are just fractions of him.

I managed to get 16 partial Santas and made up 16 totally different cards.  And I still have all the complete Santas left, ready to be used in their entirety.

I plan to make up a whole lot more of these cards over the next little while - I have a special swap with some very special people coming up in September.  And I think they'll enjoy getting their very own "Peeking Santa", don't you?

In the meantime, you really should hop on over to the next blog on our blog hop.  You're going to want to visit them ALL!  I know you will see loads of wonderful projects using new products from the Holiday Catalogue.  The catty goes live on Sept 1 and you don't want to miss out.  (If you need to order some of these fantastic treasures, contact me and I will be happy to help you out! )

Have a terrific time hopping through the Sneak Peek posts.  Find some inspiration.  Leave a comment or two.  And enjoy your day!
Till next time!    God Bless,    ~Cynthia

Still Totally Amazed - My Talented Team

Hello Friends
Ellorie H

Cecilia C

If you follow my blog at all, you will know that each month I challenge my Team members to get creative.  I give them all something identical - then tell them to use their imaginations!

In July I challenged everyone again.
Carole B

Carole (Inside card)

I gave everyone a couple of our Tea Lace Doilies, 18" of our White stitched satin ribbon, and a half dozen of our metal-rimmed pearls.  They could colour them, cut them, punch them, stamp them, whatever....The only rule is that their card had to use a fragment (at least) of all 3 elements.

Wow.
Jennifer D

Meredith W

I so look forward each month to seeing what they will come up with.  And they *never* disappoint!!

I will be posting a super-cute set of Christmas cards later today as part of the Grand Vacation Achievers blog hop.  But for now, I think you should take a look at how wonderfully talented and artistic my Team Members are!!

Prepare to be amazed!  I know I was....

And just for the record -- Sadie (card pictured here) is the granddaughter of one of my Team Members (Lynn  CG).  I think I can safely say that Sadie has inherited Lynn's talent and artistic eye, wouldn't you say?
